Because speaking is to open up your lives to one another
Because so many things are running through your mind right now that it’s bound to come off the wrong way
Because “your word is your bond” and you don’t want to offend others by not living up to it
Because you generalize so much that you’ll probably just end up contradicting yourself in the long run
Because everyone thinks you’re a certain way and have certain precepts for certain circumstances
Because you don’t want people to think you speak for all [insert a common classification of race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, credence, or socioeconomic status that society has bound you to].
Because it feels as though it has all been said. No matter how hard you’ve had it by swallowing your personal objections, someone else is probably suffering twice as much from another person who could not contain her sharpest words
Because whoever “they” are, they want you to forget this ever happened
Because whoever “they” are, they don’t want you to be misrepresented
Because anyone and everyone that you will ever be could hang by the thread of what you speak aloud now
Because the future is worth more than a spillage of phrases and futile aggressions
Because it is time to act towards tolerance and away from indifference
Because it is time to act, unify and heal
Because it is time to act.
