Who decided that one day should be dedicated to loving your significant other more so than on any other day?
I have no idea, but honestly what is the point?
Valentine's Day is a holiday made up by businesses to increase cash flow by selling giant teddy bears that hold hearts saying 'I love you' and boxes by boxes of the heart shaped chocolate boxes. Love is something that is so important that one day should not determine whether you love a person more. You should love your significant other exactly the same on September 28th as you do on February 14th. Valentine's Day does not play any purpose for celebrating anything. People are just showing the world how happy they are by the amount of gifts given to them by their boyfriends or girlfriends. Before anyone says, "Oh you'll feel different if you were in a relationship," no I wouldn't. I would still feel that this is a pointless holiday that each year gets more and more commercialized.
I don't understand why everybody gets so hyped up for this "holiday." I work in a restaurant and from last year we know that we will have an over two hour wait and will probably run out of pagers. One, why would anyone wait that long for food? Two, if you really want to show someone you love them, why don't you cook them a dinner instead of paying someone else to do it for you. It is more heartfelt that way.
If you want to do special things on Valentine's Day, go right ahead. But explain to me why you are doing it and do not just say because it is Valentine's Day.
