Why It Is Important To Travel When You Can With Your Best Friends

Summer break means a practically endless stream of vacation pictures. From traveling to other countries to simply traveling an hour’s drive away, there are pictures and stories galore filled with everyone’s new adventures. People travel with their families, friends, loved ones and even pets. This is something that I think is very important. Taking advantage of opportunities to travel, especially with your best friends, is something that everyone should do at every chance they get. Traveling when you are young is also an opportunity that should always be taken, because you may not get the same type of experiences at a later point in your life. As per usual, the issue of money comes up. It’s true that young people have a smaller “vacation fund;" however, I think that it is more than worth it to take practically any necessary measures to be able to go on as many trips and adventures as possible.

And this is why…..

1. Because why not?

The most common and obvious answer as to why it is important to travel with your best friends when you are young is because you can. There are far fewer things tying you down and taking up your time. Generally, young people have fairly simple jobs, as opposed to careers, and are not married with kids. This frees up a significant amount of time and makes leaving home for long periods of time much simpler.

2. Because there’s no one better.

Who else can you make complete fools of yourselves with and still have the absolute time of your life? Best friends are good for making even mundane things fun and not really caring about being put in potentially awkward situations. Going to new places and living in new cultures is something that only a best friend could make seem like second nature. Also, they will always have your back, so it’s kind of like having a personal bodyguard with you at all times….

3. Because YOLO!

When I decided on the topic of traveling with your best friends, I immediately texted my two best friends and asked if they had any ideas regarding the subject. One friend responded, “Because YOLO.” I laughed and said, “Seriously though, any ideas?” But then, I thought about that answer. YOLO, while not really given as a serious answer, is not a bad reason. I mean, taken for its true meaning, you really do only have one chance to live a life as full of adventure and memories as possible, and there is no better way to find endless adventures and make the best memories possible than exploring new places with some of your favorite people.

I think that everyone should take full advantage of opportunities to travel anywhere with their best friends, especially when they are young enough to do so freely.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
