There are a lot of people who write articles on the web, and now I am one of them. Some of you who know me might be going, "Flint, what are you thinking? The only things you know how to write about are Mega Man and how great nature is!" Well you may be right, but that hasn't stopped me from writing before.
There are a lot of independent content creators out there, and a large majority are part of the LGBTQ+ community. More and more queer games and books are being created each year, and I want to showcase them. Yes, some bigger medias end up getting reviewed by well-known people, but I still want people to see the ones that are not.
This drive likely came from the lack of LGBTQ+ creations I had growing up. Most of the books with gay characters I could get my hands on were written by straight women and were honestly, terribly written. Now, most book websites have an LGBT section and you can look up who the author is before buying the book to see if the writer knows what they're writing about.
That brings us back to our problem, though. Despite having all this information at our fingertips, queer books and video games not being published by big companies still tend to fall through the cracks. My hope is that the articles I write will help people discover these medias and will help indie creators get the recognition they deserve.
