Why I'm Voting For Hillary Clinton

As much as I hate to say it, I'm going with the lesser of two evils.

Why I'm Voting For Hillary Clinton

Don't get me wrong: Hillary Clinton is not my presidential candidate of choice. Her campaign is sullied with secrecy and blatant brown-nosing to target audiences. While I would be thrilled to finally see a woman in office, I would much prefer it be someone with an ounce of integrity and original thought. For example, Hillary recently asserted that the devastating Orlando nightclub attack was an act of "radical Islam" in an obvious attempt to reach Republicans who refuse to vote for Trump, directly countering a statement she made in 2015 about why she refuses to use such a toxic and hate-mongering term. She has in the past suggested that black people are "superpredators," defended a rapist in court by arguing the 12-year-old victim fantasized about having sex with older men, and has proved herself the worst kind of opportunist; doing or saying anything for personal gain.

Even still; I'm with Hillary, come November.

Despite Hillary's glaring flaws, the overwhelming hatred towards her amongst my liberal peers is somewhat surprising to me. She is constantly attacked for things that virtually every past presidential candidate has done. We've been spoiled by Bernie's integrity. But have we forgotten who she is up against this November? Are her actions really so egregious that we need to, in her place, elect a clueless, vomit-inducing reality television star as our next president?

Let's talk about Donald Trump for a moment. This poor excuse for a man, with his racist and violent ideology, could quite possibly be the downfall of America. His charismatic campaign, backed by hatred, stupidity and impulse, is not entirely dissimilar from Hitler's rise to power; manipulating the frustrated and uneducated of this country into believing that those different from ourselves are the cause of all of our problems. There is a very good chance that Trump will win the election; we simply cannot allow this man to be our president.

Frankly, those progressives who are saying they refuse to vote or, worse, voting for Trump because "why the hell not" disturb and frustrate me. If Hillary wants to copy Bernie Sanders word for word, let her do it; plagarized genius is worlds preferable to original stupidity. A meteor is not going to hit America before November, so I implore you to kindly grow up. You may feel I'm being harsh, but President Trump will be a good deal harsher, I promise you. Put aside your disdain for Hillary and look to your future, the future of your children and grandchildren.

Bernie Sanders and his campaign have started a revolution. He has exposed the false nature of our elections, and the people are not going to forget. But we need to give America a chance to improve: in four short years, there will be another election and we will have another chance to elect a better candidate than Hillary. With Trump in office, however, there will be no hope for this country.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
