Why I'm Proud To Be A Hufflepuff

The Noble House of the Badger

Why I'm Proud To Be A Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff is definitely the least loved Hogwarts house. Let’s be honest, Hufflepuffs have the worst merchandise, if we find any. I mean, a frickin’ badger? That’s why we’re the spares. I mean, if you’re a Gryffindor, you’re basically awesome. If you’re a Ravenclaw, you’re clever and will probably be successful. If you’re a Slytherin, you’re cunning and ambitious. But if you’re a Hufflepuff, you’re just nice. No one cares about being nice. Nice people are the ones that the cunning, clever, and brave use as footstools, right?

But Hufflepuffs have been getting more love lately because the newest Harry Potter movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them stars Hufflepuff, Eddie Redmayne who plays Hufflepuff, Newt Scamander. So in honor of this movie and the noble house of the badger, here are five reasons I am proud to be a Hufflepuff.

Loyalty

Hufflepuffs are renowned for their loyalty. We will stick by you no matter what. It doesn’t matter if you are having a bad day.It doesn’t matter if you aren’t loyal to us in return. It doesn’t matter what happens or what you do because if we know that you need us, we will be there for you. No questions asked.

Morality

Hufflepuffs will do the right thing because it’s right. We have a strong sense of morality and we will stick to it not because it benefits us, not because it will bring us glory, not because it’s smart, but because we know what’s right. JK Rowling said that in the Battle of Hogwarts most of the students that stayed were Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs. The Gryffindors stayed for the glory and excitement of battle. The Hufflepuffs stayed because it was the right thing to do.

Kindness

Hufflepuffs are the great humanitarians. We are doers not because we are ambitious but because we are caring. We find something that is broken and we have a desire to fix it. And because we are so loyal and have such a strong moral code, we will not stop until we have done our part. Once we find something we believe in, we will pursue and protect that thing with all our hearts. And even if we don’t have a cause, we will make an effort to be kind and loving to everyone we meet because that is one of our core values. So yeah, Hufflepuffs are the nice guys. But our kindness is what drives us every single day.

Fierce Friends

Dumbledore said it himself. Hufflepuffs are fierce, fierce friends. And we are fierce friends because of everything that the other houses don’t value, like loyalty, morality, and kindness. If you want a friend who will be there for you no matter what, who will treat you well, who will love you selflessly, befriend a Hufflepuff. We’re the best.

Great Finders

Hufflepuffs are great finders. Think about it, Newt Scamander is a Hufflepuff and he finds fantastic beasts. The evidence is there.

So Hufflepuffs are basically awesome. We are everything the other houses do not value and we are stronger for that. We are loyal even when we know it’s stupid. We are loving even when it hurts or disadvantages us. And we will do the right thing because it’s the right thing, even if we are afraid. So show some love to Hufflepuffs. And go see Fantastic Beasts and watch Newt Scamander be a hero without relying on bravery, cunningness, or cleverness. Maybe nice people don’t rule the world. But we certainly keep it from falling apart.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
