With the World Series quickly approaching, it's no secret the Chicago Cubs are serious prospects for the title. The last time the Cubs won the World Series was in 1908, this may be our year once again, but step aside bandwagon fans, only a real Cubs fan can appreciate them making it this far. Here's why I'm proud to be a fan.

1. When we lose, we lose with grace.

Noting that the Cubs haven't won the World Series in just over a century, it's obvious we're not new to losing but when we do, we keep our heads high and remain good sports who aren't afraid to give anyone their props, including the opposing teams. We're just classy that way.

2. We are optimistic.

Every season, good or bad, we are there with high hopes for our Cubbies. Every season, no matter how many losses we may have, if you ask what we have to say, we'll tell you the Cubs are gonna win today.

3. We are family.

Cubs fans stick together. We celebrate together and at times get frustrated together. At times we even may find ourselves dating each other, but we are our own team, and proud of it. If we see you with one of our jerseys we will immediately gravitate toward you, but more importantly, if you mess with one Cubs fan you mess with all of us.

4. We are loyal.

The Cubs have kind of sucked for a long time, but regardless we stay loyal to our team, loss after loss after loss.

5. We are resilient.

As Cubs fans, after losses we have learned how to bounce back. We pick ourselves up and get ready for the next game. Need an example? Check out this year's record.

6. We know how to win.

We know how to celebrate being proud of our team when we win. This year more than ever we have shown that.

In the end, whether the Cubs make it to the World Series or not, win or lose, I will always be a proud Cubs fan. However, something tells me this year will be our year and a true Cubs fan will finally be able to have what we've been waiting for for a long, long time.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
