Why I'm Finally Getting Rid Of My Low-Rise Jeans

Yes I am well aware it is the year 2021, I'm a little behind the times.

Why I'm Finally Getting Rid Of My Low-Rise Jeans

I am not someone who enjoys wearing jeans and I don't wear them all that often. When I do I normally opt for one of my 3 pairs of skinny jeans that I have owned for three years and normally pair it with some sort of crop top. While I had always noticed that they were a little low and rested right at my hips I had never really thought a lot about it until I was showing my friend the jeans so she could get a better look at them and she says, "don't you know that you're wearing low rise jeans". It finally all clicked why I never needed a belt and why when I wore them with a crop top you could literally see my whole stomach and why I was always a little uncomfortable in them. I didn't do anything about it for months because Corona hit and I didn't think there was a point and by the time I got back to school, I had completely forgotten about it and started wearing them again. While I still experienced the same problems it didn't occur to me why until I saw a photo of myself in them and immediately realized that it was time to buy a new pair of jeans. Cyber Monday luckily was two weeks later and there was a great deal on a pair of mom jeans from American Eagle so I purchased them and anxiously awaited their arrival.

When they arrived I was so excited and immediately tried them on and sent pictures to my friends who loved them. I was so shocked by how well they fit and how they looked really good with crop tops and t-shirts. Plus adding a belt made them fit perfectly and was a cute accessory that I hadn't really worn before because, with skinny jeans, belts aren't really needed. I have worn my pair of mom jeans so many times and haven't even touched my skinny jeans since. Today when my second pair of mom jeans arrived which I tried on and fit perfectly, made me realize that it was time to finally start phasing out the skinny jeans entirely which is something I should've done ages ago. The low rise skinny jeans trend was one that has been out of style for years and I am way behind on the times on this one.

If you are someone who like me only wore skinny jeans, please buy a pair of mom jeans. Trust me, they will change your life and you will never want to go back to wearing skinny jeans again. While both of my pairs are from American Eagle, I have been told that Target, Pacsun, and H&M have great pairs for a good price. 2021 is the year of new beginnings and by finally ditching the low-rise skinny jeans, I have created a new beginning for myself. Join me in finally getting with the times and get yourself a pair of mom jeans.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
