As an American the idea of the monarchy, to me, is interesting. To live in a country that is ruled not by a president, like in the United States, but to have a queen and/or king ruling, like in England and many other countries. The next five weeks I will be in London, and I am thrilled to be able to see all the royal buildings and palaces, the Changing of the Guards, and participate in the Queen's birthday festivities. But why am I so fascinated by the royal family and the monarchy?
Many of us watched Kate get married to Prince William and we've all seen pictures of their adorable children. We've lived through Princess Diana's death (most of us, at least), as well as the many other royal scandals and gossip. And let's face it, Kate Middleton is not only gorgeous and elegant, but she has great style, hair, teeth, etc. While I'm not from Britain I still love the royals and value them as much as I do my favorite celebrities.
Let's not forget the Queens many amazing facial expressions.
Whether the royal family is in the spotlight in America more as celebrities rather than rulers, they are fascinating to me merely because they're royal.
