Why I'm A Delta Zeta

As a naive freshman, I had no background knowledge about the sororities on my campus. I went through recruitment with an open mind, but no sorority stood out to me more than Delta Zeta. Everyday, I couldn't wait to go back and spend more time learning about Delta Zeta and talking to more girls. I'll never forget the moment of excitement and anticipation when I opened my bid to see that I've been chosen to be apart of such an amazing house and sisterhood. As I get older and times get more stressful, I sometimes forget the reasons why I was so infatuated with Delta Zeta during recruitment. Here's a little refresher as to why I'm a Delta Zeta.

The strong sisterhood.

I've never met a closer group of girls than the ladies of Delta Zeta. From the outside looking in, you can see how everyone is so outgoing and loves to have fun goofing off and being themselves. I know that every single girl in this house would drop everything to be there for a sister in need. I've never laughed harder and felt more loved being apart of this devoted sisterhood.

The amazing philanthropy.

"May I give graciously Of what is mine;"

Every year, Delta Zeta raises money to go towards the Starkey Hearing Foundation, for those who are speech and hearing impaired. There is no better feeling than to be able to donate money towards a person getting the services needed to be able to hear for the very first time. Delta Zeta nationally has raised over $5 million towards this incredible foundation.

The admirable leaders.

Delta Zeta is an entire sorority full of leaders. From President to new member, every Delta Zeta woman is a born leader. They know when to take charge and give the respect to every person around them. I have much respect for the executive board leaders in our chapter because they are the foundation that keeps us together. Being able to work together as a house to make things work and having the opportunity to let everyone voice their own opinions is what I love most about my house.

The passionate values.

As a freshman, it took me a while to understand what was being said in our creed. Delta Zeta is founded on the core values of truth, giving back, friendship, love, education, and faith. As a sorority, I know every woman strives to follow these values everyday. A Delta Zeta woman is honest, giving, loving, smart, and faithful. Out of all the traits and characteristics in the world, those are some pretty great qualities to have.

My second family.

The best part about Delta Zeta is my family away from home. My sisters are my best friends and I couldn't imagine my life without them. There's something about the people you meet in college that will always have a special place in your heart. I'm thankful for Delta Zeta everyday and happy I'm apart of something this great.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
