Why I'm An Alpha Delta Pi
Mary Kathryn Curtis

I remember my bid day like it was yesterday, even though it's only been a year. When I received my bid card from Alpha Delta Pi and ran home to them on Bid Day it was one of the best decisions I could've made. Through just a year in ADPi I've already learned so much and I'm here to tell what those things are exactly.

1. What the word "Sisterhood" means to me

My alpha class showed me that no matter what our backgrounds are or where we come from that the sisterhood of Alpha Delta Pi can bring us together. Even though we didn't all know each other when we first came into our sorority, it's because of our sorority that we became such great friends and sisters. Sorority women don't pay for friends and that's a stereotype that a lot of people seem to talk about. Each and every one of my sisters will be there for me through thick and thin.

2. Our open motto is what we truly live by

WLFEO: We Live For Each Other has such a strong meaning to me and with all of my sorority sisters. I know that I could contact any single one of them at the drop of hat and they would be there for me. My chapter in itself embraces our motto more than anything. It's a way of life not only for myself but the other 134 sisters that mean everything to me.

3. What it's like to have someone to count on

Receiving a Big Diamond Sis is every Alpha's favorite part of being a part of ADPi. It was one of my favorite parts of not only my freshman year but ADPi as well. You imagine having someone to count on, someone who will be there for you even more so than others, someone to be your rock and guide, or someone who you can be your weird goofy self with. I was lucky enough to get someone who does all of that plus some. My Big Diamond has not only shown me kindness but also has helped me through so much.

4. True meaning of Philanthropy

During the recruitment process I fell in love with ADPi on Philanthropy day because I felt truly inspired as to what ADPi contributed towards Ronald McDonald House Charities. Seeing every sister feel just as passionate about philanthropy and volunteering like I was made me feel even more at home and love ADPi even more.

5. How to be even more crafty

Before joining a sorority I was fairly crafty, but now I've learned to craft in a record time. From making things for myself or for my diamond family I can now craft everything in a days time.

6. Being a part of the first sorority EVER is pretty cool

Learning that ADPi was the first ever sorority founded was a pretty cool thing! We were founded in 1851 in Macon, Georgia. It really put things into perspective for me because of all the traditions that have been kept up for so long. It makes you feel really special when you think about it.

7. It's not 4 years, it's for life

This is stressed all throughout any girls collegiate time in Alpha Delta Pi because it reigns true. Being a part of ADPi you realize the true meaning of the phrase. It's not a sisterhood just for college, even after college you're a part of something so big and so special.

8. That girls can get along

I would've never thought that 135 girls could get along so easily, well I was wrong. All of my sorority sisters get along (most of the time) but overall we do. We are always there for each other in the good times and the bad. That's one if the reasons I love being in my sorority.

9. You're never alone

When I joined Alpha Delta Pi I didn't know what I was getting into, but now I couldn't be happier with my choice. Being a part of ADPi you realize that with your sisters, you're never alone.

10. FIRST, FINEST, FOREVER <>

I am an Alpha Delta Pi because I love what we stand for as a sorority. I will always love ADPi with all of my heart through the rest of my years in college and after. I will always be a part of the FIRST, FINEST and FOREVER.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
