Why I'm Addicted To Concerts

Concerts truly are therapy.

I remember going to my very first concert; It was Hilary Duff and I begged my mom to go to see her because I wanted to hear "Come Clean", my favorite song at the time live. When my mom finally agreed to take me I remember the joy I felt. It was an indescribable feeling watching Hilary Duff, the girl I had watched on Lizzie McGuire come out right in front of me. I begged my mom to let me get one of her tour t-shirts and when she agreed I didn't take it off for a week straight (Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point).

I still get that indescribable feeling when I go to a concert and see the artist come out. It's weird when you listen to someone's music all the time and to finally see them right in front of you singing your favorite song live. Music heals people, it truly is such a powerful thing. You may listen to music when you're bored when you need to get through something when you're happy when you're sad when you need to focus, or maybe when you just want to jam out in the car. To see the artist you've been playing over and over singing that one song over and over is such an amazing feeling.

The anticipation of waiting for the artist to come out is truly agonizing. Time feels so slow and like they're never going to come on. Take advantage of this though, because once they come on, the concert flies by and you will be asking yourself where the time went and hoping you can just see them for 5 for minutes. Concerts truly make you forget all your problems, even if its temporary. The arena you're in becomes a safe haven and is truly filled with pure joy. You can just sing your favorite songs, dance with your friends, and let all your problems go. If you bring the right people with you, concerts are truly such a fun, enjoyable experience filled with many memories.

A tip for those who are on a bit of a budget, get tickets the day they go on sale. If you are trying to avoid the high prices, research the time they go on sale and be on the website at that exact time. If you get tickets exactly when they come out, you will avoid buying overpriced resale tickets. Also, depending on the venue, sometimes they have special packages where if you buy 4+ tickets you get them for a discounted price so look out for that as well!

One last thing, don't be one of those people that records every single thing at the concert. I know how tempting it is, especially if you're super close. Trust me, I used to be one of those people. Don't get me wrong, it's great to record some parts and take pictures, but not the whole thing. I promise you being in the moment and feeling that happiness is 10x better than spending your time recording the whole concert. Most of the time you don't look back on the videos anyway. Enjoy every second of your experience and never take it for granted. Concerts truly are therapy and I truly am addicted to the feeling of going to them.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
