Let me start out by saying that I am not here to say that there is anything wrong with coffee, in fact I used to love coffee (be addicted, if I may). And when I came to college, the stigma was that everyone drinks coffee, and while I do enjoy my occasional cup, for some reason I have really taken to tea instead. Oddly enough, I am not alone in this. Many of my friends prefer tea and it's benefits over those of coffee. Here are a few reasons why I would take tea over coffee any day.

1. The health benefits

There are so many health benefits to drinking tea. There are antioxidants and less caffeine than coffee. It can protect your bones, immune system and heart. There are so many more.

2. There is still caffeine in tea

Many people may not like the taste of coffee, so they drink it for the caffeine. Well rest assured, because there is still caffeine in tea. Black tea actually has 60-90 mg of caffeine compared to 150-200 mg in coffee.

3. It tastes amazing

Yes, some people do enjoy the taste of coffee. But for those who don't, tea is a great alternative. Tea can come in all different flavors from fruity to earthy and everything in between.

4. It's a lot easier to prepare tea

When you're making coffee, you need some sort of coffee pot and then you need to have already ground coffee beans. Let's just say it takes time. While when making tea, all you need is hot water.

5. Tea doesn't stain your teeth like coffee

Coffee is one of the main reasons people have stained teeth and then turn to whitening products. When the coffee touches your teeth, it leaves a stain because of the dark pigments. Tea comes in several types, therefore not all of them are dark and will leave stains.

6. Tea can help reduce stress

Studies show that people who drink several cups of tea a day, are more likely to be less stressed than those who choose coffee.

7. It will help to hydrate your body

Tea is one of the most hydrating drinks you can have and it will help to nourish your body.

8. Tea just helps you feel all nice and cozy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
