Why I Write

I can go places that I created with a pin.

This is why I chose to write, it allows me to have a voice. When I was younger and still today, I don't go out very much. I'm not an introvert or an extrovert, I'm in the middle. For me, I would much rather stay at home with a good book, curl up and read it. Now that doesn't mean that I don't like to go out with my friends, because I do, but it's nice to stay in sometimes. When I start reading I am able to place myself in different times and scenarios. I'm not just in my house anymore, I am able to be on a beach or in London. I was traveling the word or flying high with made up characters. Books can take me places and broaden my perspective of other places or things I haven't been able to do or explore yet.

Seeing what the books do for me when I am just at my house, I wanted to make my own world or story. When you are an author you can make anything you can dream of. Like J. K. Rowling, she was able to create 7 books involving Harry Potter and the school of Hogwarts. She was able to open a whole new world and bring to life some imagination. Like other authors in this day and age I want to create something that can make someone think or to travel somewhere in their mind. Creating stories and being able to write can give me a voice. Writing gives me the feeling of being free. I can say what I want or I can create a world with my thoughts and words. Being able to write gives me power with my words.

I write because writing gives me a voice I may not be able to say with in the world we have today. I write because my imagination is able to run wild. No matter how many mistakes I can make while I write, I can proofread and fix it. All of the stories I can think of can become jumbled thoughts so with writing I can make them real works of art, it may give the chance to create more than just words on a piece of paper. With all of the thoughts and ideas I have, writing gives me somewhere to put them. It gives me a chance to escape reality and create my own world. Sometimes bad things happen in the world and we just need to let go of somethings and writing might be the only way to let it go at the time. Writing is just a part of me and I wouldn't be who I am today with out writing. This is why I write.

" And tho she but little, she is fierce" - William Shakespeare

This is one of my favorite quotes and this is how I feel when I write. Even though I am small, my words paint a bigger picture and have a bigger meaning.

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.
