Yes, I'm A Huge 'Star Wars' Nerd So Bring On The The Lightsabers, Wookie Roars, And Spaceship Battles

Something about the series in that galaxy far, far away continues to capture my heart.

Growing up I think everyone had a fandom of some kind.

Whether it was your favorite movie, television show or book series, you enjoyed every single minute of it. I was always a huge fan of Star Wars. Funny story about how I got into the series. My father grew up being a big fan of Star Trek.

Even though he was into Star Trek, he had a VHS copy of the original trilogy for Star Wars. I still remember the day he handed down to me the set of films. I recall walking into my parents' bedroom, placing the first tape into the television slot and pushing the play button.

From that moment everything changed. My eyes opened up to something new and exciting. It was special watching "Star Wars Episode Four: A New Hope" for the first time. I remember being gravitated towards iconic characters like Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2D2, C-3PO and many others.

I memorized famous lines and tried to do my best impressions of certain scenes in the movies. As a fan, I went the whole nine yards. I started collecting tons of memorabilia over the years. My Halloween costumes were on point every time the holiday rolled around. In my spare time, I'd look into the lore of the immense universe George Lucas created that made up this galaxy far, far away. Star Wars became such an important part of my life.

What I enjoy the most about Star Wars is connecting with the central themes of the story. It's something that can be passed down from generation to generation. Just like how my father passed down these stories to me, I hope to do the same if I have kids of my own one day.

At the very least I've taken the time to introduce Star Wars to my younger sister. It's so funny being on the other side of passing on the torch. Seeing how excited she got when she watched Star Wars for the very first time melted my heart. It's definitely a plus having one more person I can talk about Star Wars or watch the movies with.

In my humble opinion, I think Star Wars is the best thing ever. I understand why so many other people enjoy it since the franchise's initial release back in the 1970s. Even now in college years I enjoy re-watching the movies and television shows all the time. I'm a total geek and not afraid to show it.

My friends and family would vouch on how much I love Star Wars. I'm grateful for my father introducing me to the series. Without him I cannot be certain that I would've gotten into Star Wars. It was cool hearing the news break out about Disney acquiring Lucasfilm Ltd. and that new Star Wars content was in the works.

At first, I was hesitant with Disney's takeover of the franchise but still believed that good things were coming. The films I've enjoyed the most from Disney's cinematic team so far are "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story." I thought it was great to fill in the gaps left behind from the main storyline with these spin-off films. I'm eager to see what Disney has planned for the future of Star Wars. If there's any company in the world that has franchises reach their highest potential, it's Disney.

I'm excited for next year to hopefully visit Disney World for the first time with my family. We're all keen on experiencing the highly anticipated "Star Wars land" opening in the fall of 2019.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
