Why I love Photography

Photography is a love affair with life. -Burk Uzzle

Why I love Photography

Photography is actually deep. It's not just about taking a picture of something you think is pretty. It's capturing a moment in time. Stopping time. It's about making people stop and think. Focuses on the small things. It isn't the camera you have, the special lenses, the high tech equipment. It's about the person capturing the picture. Every photographer has their own style. Their own interests they like to bring to life. It's about making any story come to life, like a writer but doing so with a photograph.

One thing I find interesting is anyone can do it! and I've noticed a lot more people picking it up because the improving camera's on phones anymore. Like I said previously, it's really not just about the equipment (unless you use photography as a job not just a hobby), you just have to have the eye for it.

I'm more of a nature person when it comes to the photos I take. But there is a joy I get out of it when doing pictures for people, to see how they react loving it. Capturing their laughs, love, off-guard poses. Capturing people in their own world, because everybody is different.

It's also therapeutic in its own way. Very calming and always peaceful. It's the best feeling when you're alone in an area (specially the woods) and just taking the earth in for hidden beauty. So many people just walk by stuff not thinking about it. Or they look at something, but don't really see it. For example, this run down barn. Most will look past it, I embrace it. There's a lot behind this picture you wouldn't see just from looking at it. It gets you thinking now, doesn't it?

Here's some quotes I've found and liked:

"Photography is all about light, composition and, most importantly, emotion." -Larry Wilder, "God creates the beauty. My camera and I are a witness." -Mark Denman, "Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world." -Bruno Barbey.

When I asked a number of people what they all had similar inputs. Tiara said, "It's very zen... It makes you slow down in this busy fast paced life. You slow down and admire the small things.. and you can show people that something mainstream society may not find beautiful, actually is beautiful. Capturing moments in time is my favorite!". Kaila said, "Photography allows people to see the little things in life from a whole new perspective, it's universal.". Madison said, "I LOVE pictures because it can capture anything. Any good or bad moment, any candid moment of you laughing or anything. It creates images to look back on in the future and to me, I think it's awesome.". Willow commented, "I do it cause of passion and I love seeing people happy with my pictures. It brings some money in.". Kristal commented, "I do it because I love seeing the beautiful views and I love capturing them. I also do it because I love to show people the beauties of nature and how beautiful it can be. I love taking pictures of people to capture special moments or celebrations.". And lastly I had another ladies input, Tiffany says, "I do it to explore new things and to help people celebrate their special events and such.. It also is a good way to bring in extra money.".

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
