Why I Love My College Roommate

In This Article:

Whether you are a transfer student starting at a university or a freshman starting college for the first time, your roommate will be your best friend and your sister. Through the semester you both will learn each others ways, stay up late having deep conversations knowing you have a 8:30am class, talk about how stress this one class is and so much more.

We Can Be Lazy Together

There are days when the weather is so crummy that neither of us want to go to class. There are nights when we get back from class and just grab our chairs, throw our feet up and tune into our show for that day. Thank you for dealing with my ID shows 99% of the time.

PHOTOSHOOT!!!!

Knowing how much I love photography, you never got annoyed when I asked to do a mini photoshoot or even take photos. Whether we were in our apartment or out exploring you completely understood that I was taking my camera & most likely taking over 100 photos. You never rushed me while I was trying to get "the perfect angle for the perfect shot". The idea of a mini photoshoot in our living room wasn't even a shocker to you. It was like "okay let's do it!" moved the couch and BAAAM!

Never A Dull Moment During The Holidays

Although we leave for Christmas break, there is no one else I would want to wear an "ugly" sweater with but you!! Especially a matching ones. Who knew trying to find the PERFECT sweater for "ugly sweater bingo" would be fun honestly. Can't wait to do it again in our Goat sweaters!!

Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

As much as you hate the cold, we managed to have a snowball fight, cleaned a few cars off in the parking lot and even made a snowman ( and a friend) Shout out to your creativity when it came to the nose and 3D ears. Be ready for next winter.

El Música

Two ( slightly) different cultures colliding. While living together I fell in love with Spanish music and grasped onto the language. Whether it's just cooking in the kitchen or blasting music, random dancing to Spanish music was....divertisdísimo! Our crazy minds together would be the ones to open the windows on a nice spring morning, put the speakers by it and blast "It's a beautiful morning" for everyone to hear as they walked by.

Special Occasions

Thanks for doing my hair when it came to "meeting the parents" and letting me borrow your tops for sisterhood occasion. Thank you for telling me, "You're going to be okay. Stop worrying" when it came to dinner with the family to ensure that it wasn't a big deal because regardless they would love me.

If it's not the AC unit exploding on our first night in the apartment it's someone banging on our window at 2am. Never a dull moment in our apartment. Memories that we can look back on now and laugh at because only that would happen to us.

Thank you for always being there for me when situations became tough, popping the screen out the window so I can come back inside, showing me your culture and your views on things while accepting mine. Thank you for always being patient with me when I was being too hard on myself. Most importantly thank you for making my first year at a university a perfect one. Wouldn't trade you as a roommate or friend in for a thing. Cheers to our second and final year as undergrads.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
