When I was younger, I never really liked winter. I liked the idea of winter, you know a winter wonderland and hot chocolate in front of the fire. But every year when winter actually came, I didn't like the cold or the stress of the holidays. Now as I get older I found a new appreciation for winter. Some reasons I have learned to love winter are:
1. Holidays
With the chilly season also comes holiday season. Holiday season is a time for giving and appreciation. It's when we step back and reflect on what we have done and who has helped us. This is when I try to do something extra special for the one's I love.
2. Family
With Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's, there are so many opportunities to see family. When I was younger, I saw these holidays as a way to overeat and receive gifts but now that I'm in college this is a time for me to come home and reunite with my family. As I grow older, I am becoming closer with my family, and holidays and winter are a great time for me to see them.
3. Cold weather
Even though I don't like being in the cold I've noticed something great about it. It creates an environment that promotes creativity and talking. I realized that many of my friends like to stay inside in the winter, this may sound boring but during this time we always have the best conversations or come up with entertaining things to do. Even though no one wants to leave the house, we always find something fun to do.
