6 Reasons I Could Never Work A 9 To 5 Job

I was recently hired at my dad's work which is a custom office furniture company. It includes spending a lot of time at a computer and desk.

In This Article:

1. There's a LOT of sitting involved.

In high school and college, of course you sit a lot in classes. But at a job, it's on a whole other level. In classes you walk between transition periods. At work, you can walk to the bathroom, the break-room, and that's about it. I'm an extremely antsy person which is why this doesn't work for me and sitting still is difficult for me. I always have to be doing something.

2. Looking at a computer screen all day becomes a NIGHTMARE.

It's honestly just the worst. It hurts your eyes and gives you unnecessary headaches. I'd just rather avoid the migraines all together.

3. It begins to hurt your muscles.

I think we all know that a sedentary lifestyle leads to more aches than there should be. After sitting at my desk chair and staring at a computer screen all day, my neck began to hurt. I was so confused. Then, I realized the cause.

4. There's not enough to do.

Of course there are multiple errands I have to run and whatnot, but other than I'm doing the same thing over and over. I don't get to go anywhere or see different things. I'm just stuck.

5. Sorting and organizing files begins to feel like a death sentence.

Pretty self explanatory.

6. It's just plain boring.

I end up scrolling through my email and shopping online. I go down a hole of doing things I don't normally do.

Although I know 9 to 5 jobs are a necessary evil but who actually wants to do them? I'm sure some people love what they do and work in an office setting but for me, it's just not the move. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and relax in a desk chair but all the time I'm spending working here is driving me crazy. I'm tired, hungry, and bored. This is basically my rant of why I hate my job.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
