Well, in the scheme of things- I didn't have much of a choice in the matter. Being a freshman, you are required to live in the dorm. But as I keep asking my self- would I be in an apartment my freshman year if I had an option. The answer would be no. I wouldn't. As I have heard being in a dorm your freshman year is - unique and like no other. What is a college experience without a dorm? It is now almost end of summer, which is hard to believe but I am getting more and more excited to move into my own space with my friends and experience it all. The laughs, the cries, the late night movie nights and bonding- all of it. Yes, being in an apartment you can do the same thing. But my parents and everyone that has lived in a dorm has raved of the experience that they had. Then they didn't have the option to live in an apartment they had no choice. It is just a different experience in both factors. For me personally, I am just not ready for that type of responsibility of an apartment, I have only just begun adulting and would like to enjoy what little responsibility I don't have to take on at the moment- plus for me I don't think I can afford that even between two other people. I also think the experience of living around a bunch of people is different than living in the dorms. I wanted to be near campus and the life it brings upon itself and wouldn't feel like an apartment would bring that to me. I was also less worried about accessibility when it came to dorms, they would suite my needs as needed and an apartment I would have to pay to get accessible showers and other accommodations. Personally, I just feel like the dorm like it well suited for me and my freshman needs.
*Note I have nothing against living in an apartment freshman year, you do you, but for me dorm life is more suitable to what I want and how I want to experience things in college.
