Why I care so much about my dog

I used to be "one of those people" that didn't understand how someone could be so obsessed over an animal. Don't get me wrong, I've loved dogs/cats/rabbits growning up, but it wasn't until Emmi that I really understood.

Why I care so much about my dog

2018 has been a heck of a year. With medical emergencies, new home, ect.

Once things settled down in our new home, I started having the famous "Puppy Fever." I'd see cute dogs everywhere, young and old... big and small. I decided to try and start asking Tyler if he would want one. After doing research on what breed, size and where to get one, we found one cute little "last of the litter" post and knew she was the one. This was a tough two months waiting, receiving pictures/videos from the breeder and impatiently buying everything at the pet stores. Lol

Little did I know, the last pick of the litter would change our lives.

In one of the most challenging times, we received one of the most amazing gifts.

Since the day we got her, she has never failed to amaze us. She is always learning new things and always down to cuddle. She's been a huge uplift to our lives when times were tough. On days that Tyler doesn't feel his best, I swear she knows. She will curl on him and won't get up. She enjoys laying on the floor but will keep either her head or paw on our foot, just incase we get up. My personal favorite is at 9 pm when she's passed out laying on my chest, such a relaxing feeling. She also learned the sound to our home lock and the second it dings (unlocks) she prepares herself to welcome us, with the cutest look in the world. (Lets be honest, it's probably "Just get me out of this cage, I want to play" but I'll think of it as she is just really excited to see us haha).

But most importantly, I'm so happy to be her pawrent. I do consider her my child, for many reasons. We train her, feed her, potty train her, give her all of our love and much much more. I look forward to telling her about my day and seeing her get all excited to see "daddy" drive up. I get so much joy seeing Tyler walk into our home saying, "Hey my girls" and Emmi making so much noise with her tail beating both of us up with excitement. I love her ride alongs to pet stores and getting her whatever she wants, because she deserves it.

I hope one day she fully understands how much of an impact she has made on us. She may have been the "runt" or "last pick of the litter" but she is nothing short of amazing.

We love you so much, Emmi girl.

XOXO

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
