Why Having Siblings That You're Close With Is The Best And Worst

The best and worst things about being really close with your siblings.

Having siblings can be the best thing in the world and also the worst thing in the world. As the third child (out of four) I know how it feels to be close with siblings. I would definitely say that me and my siblings are very close and we have been for a really long time and continue to be. We all support each other at our best times and worst times no matter what. This week, I thought I would share why having siblings that you’re close with is the best and worst thing in the world.

WORST

1. They embarrass you

If you have any siblings, you know you will be embarrassed purposefully by them. Whether it be in front of their friends, your friends, other family members, or anyone else, they are always looking to embarrass you. I remember performing in a cabaret that was pretty formal and when I went up to sing my song, all I hear is my older brothers voice yelling "He's so good looking!". I was so embarrassed to say the least. But, it's all out of love and something to laugh at in the future.

2. They know everything about you

This could be the best and worst thing ever. The best because they know how to deal with things with you and how to help you, be there for you, etc; however them knowing everything about you can also be hard. You have no secrets and they can bring up anything at anytime. I do trust them, but still... they know everything about me

3. They know how to annoy you

To say they know how to annoy me would be an understatement. We all know how to more then annoy each other. We know every little thing that annoys, scares, or makes each other feel uncomfortable. There's probably not a day that goes by that one of us doesn't annoy each other somehow, but as I said before, it's all out of love.

BEST

1. You have best friends for life

I can honestly say that with my siblings there is never a dull moment. Just like a best friend, we do almost everything together when we are in the same place. We do fun things, chill things, crazy things, embarrassing things, and so much more. We even have a group chat that we talk in constantly called "The Fam✌️️💯 " where we talk about everything from random stuff to what just happened to us five seconds ago. We have tons of inside jokes and hang out with each other constantly when we can

2. Family vacations are the best

This is where it gets interesting and fun. Vacations are the best with my siblings. We recently went to Universal Studios and because we are competitive and love the ride, we went on the "Men In Black" ride over and over... and over again to see who would win with the points (I always won by a lot). But we all have fun and do every ride together. While on roller coasters we all scream when the ride is going slow or going up before a drop and be silent during the drop or crazy parts. We also on some rides that have music dance and scream and have the best time.

3. They’re always there for advice

As I am the third child, I already have two siblings before me that know have experienced life more than me. But, there are always times when we all need advice from each other. Whether it be personal things to what song we should listen to or sing. No matter how stupid, silly, funny, or serious the advice we need is, we are always there for each other giving advice.

4. They make you laugh constantly

My family definitely has a unique sense of humor. We all have our funny moments when we all laugh although I would be willing to bet, most other people wouldn't find the things we find funny, funny. We just "get" each others comedy and it just goes from there. Laughing uncontrollably to even the stupidest jokes we make. But I know, whenever I'm with them, I'm going to be laughing.

5. They always have your back

Most importantly, we all have each others back. If we have a bad day then we are right there to lift each other up. If we have a good day, we are right there to be happy for each other. If something happens we will stand up for each other. No matter what it is, when it is, or where it is, we all have each others back no matter what.

I couldn't end on that last one. You know I have to add in some cheesy thing at the end.

To my siblings: I love you guys so much. You guys have been there for me 24/7 and I could not thank you enough. You guys are always there to cheer me up when I am down and make me even happier when I am already happy. You guys have supported me and have always had my back. You are truly my best friends and I couldn't have asked for a better three siblings. Love you guys so much.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
