Throughout history, women have been put down. There are jokes that women are lower than dirt and depending on who you talk to, we are. But throughout history, there have been women who had goals. Who were warriors, who were social fighters and who were queens. We as women need to have high goals for ourselves to be like those women. You don't have to be a famous cardiologist — be a stay at home mom. If your goal is for your children to be smart and kind, then that is just as good as being a cardiologist.
To break the glass ceiling
In the 21st century, women are starting to break the glass ceiling. The glass ceiling is the unseen, yet unbreachable barrier that keeps minorities and women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications or achievements. Women are CEOs, doctors, engineers and leaders all around the world. But in many work areas, women aren't respected in their field because they are women. Having high goals will make you strive harder to break that glass ceiling and create equality in the workforce.
To change history
Marie Curie, Anne Frank and Benazir Bhutto are just many of the thousands of women that have changed the world. Having high goals will drive young girls and women to change their society. Whether it's human trafficking or finding the cure for cancer, women with goals all over the world are changing history. It is important for us as women to do this, even if its small like help get your children or students a new playground. Anything we do can change history, big or small.
Ambition is mentally good for us
Ambition is mentally good for our minds. Have you ever striven for something, getting an A on a paper or finally figuring out how to do a backflip? Well, that drive is ambition. While some people such as Aristotle think ambition is bad for men (and women), it is good for us. Ambition helps you see your future and helps you bring the best you have to the world. In my opinion, it makes you more positive and gives you a different outlook on your goal. When you find that ambition, you are unstoppable.
Goals tell us what we truly want out of life
In "Legally Blonde," Elle Woods wanted Warner because she wanted a perfect life. It wasn't until Warner told Elle that she's not smart enough for law school that she changed her goal to what she truly wanted. When we make goals it shouldn't be to be rich or to have the cutest clothes. Goals need to be something deep down inside that you want. My goal is to help as many people as I can around the world before I die. Your goal shows who you are and what you want out of life.
Big or small, women need to have high goals for themselves. We have been put down for too long not to want that for ourselves and future generations. Anything can be a goal in your life, from getting a degree to owning your own business. Women need to have high goals to change not only themselves but history.
