Growing up, I was always told to stand up for what I believe in, to stand for what's right. Being an (almost) adult woman in the United States, I am extremely anti-trump. Not only because of the things he has said about women, but the fact that he has made fun of people with disabilities, the LGBT community and celebrities, making hate speech 'okay' for kids, teens, and adults throughout the country.
When people start bringing up politics in casual conversation and at dinners, specifically friends and family, I have no problem listing off every reason why I cannot stand the future president of this country. Usually people shrug off my opinions because I'm 'just a teenage girl' and assume I know nothing about politics. I followed this past election more closely than many 'informed' adults did, being a libertarian, I was not a fan of either candidate, more rooting for Gary Johnson (besides the whole Aleppo issue... eep!)
So, when I do start voicing my opinions about Trump and my guy friends come back with, "I pegged you as a Hillary supporter anyways," stop making that assumption. Just because I'm a female does not mean I'm a Hillary supporter, and just because I despise Trump does not mean I'm a Hillary supporter.
Stop pegging me with stereotypes. Stop making assumptions. Let me voice my opinions.
