Why I Hate The MLB All-Star Game Fan Vote
Our Sports Central

All-Star weekend for the MLB is coming up. I am a big fan of all-star weekend. Home Run Derby, Futures Game, Celebrity softball game, and the All-Star game itself are all awesome to watch. However, I CAN'T STAND HOW THE PLAYERS GET SELECTED BY A FAN VOTE. I am a Chicago Cubs fan but they shouldn't have had four starters in the infield. Have you guys seen how stupid some of these fans are? It's a shame how this is the voting system. I am gonna go through the National League starting lineup and point out which guys should start and what guys shouldn't. The reason I am only doing the National League is because how bad of a job the NL "fans" did with building this lineup.

National League Starters are C Buster Posey, 1B Anthony Rizzo, 2B Ben Zobrist, 3B Kris Bryant, SS Addison Russell, OFs Yoenis Cespedes, Dexter Fowler, Bryce Harper.

What the National League Starters should be: C Wilson Ramos, 1B Anthony Rizzo, 2B Daniel Murphy, 3B Kris Bryant, SS Aledyms Diaz, OFs Carlos Gonzalez, Starling Marte, Yoenis Cespedes.

So have Wilson Ramos as the starting catcher instead of Buster Posey. Wilson Ramos the slash line of .335/.554/.944. Buster Posey's slash line is .289/.482/.844. The slash line is batting average, slugging percentage, and the players on base percentage plus their slugging percentage. Just based off of each players slash line Wilson Ramos is out hitting Buster Posey by a considerable amount. Ramos is the leading hitting catcher in the whole MLB yet he is not starting the all-star game? At second base I have Daniel Murphy over Ben Zobrist. Daniel Murphy is leading all but two hitting categories in the National League. It makes ZERO sense that he isn't starting the all-star game. The dude is mashing baseballs left and right this year. He is hitting .345 right now and isn't starting. This is my biggest issue of this year's all-star game is that Addison Russell is the starter over Aledyms Diaz. Russell is hitting .242. Diaz is hitting .319. Diaz is having a great rookie year with the stick. He has been a little shaky with the glove but he has been the best Shortstop in the National League he should be the starter. Russell Shouldn't even be considered to be an all-star. It's sad how the MLB let this happen. The outfielders weren't as badly voted on as I thought. However, it is a shame how Bryce Harper is allowed in the all-star game this year. He hasn't played like Bryce Harper this year but of course, he made it because of the "fans". Carlos Gonzalez and Starling Marte should be starting over Bryce Harper and Dexter Fowler. Dexter Fowler has definitely had a good year but Gonzalez and Marte are having better years. Gonzalez and Harper both have 18 bombs and 51 RBIs. The problem is that Gonzalez has a 100x better slash line but since it's Bryce Harper he gets to start.

The MLB needs to change the selection system. It shouldn't be a fan vote because of how some fans just vote for their favorite player and not the guy who deserves it. It should be some kind of player vote or manager selection system. Rob Manfred if you are reading this please fix this problem because it needs to be fixed ASAP.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
