Why I HATE Movie Theaters

They're repulsive.

I hate movie theaters. I really hate them. I find them disgusting and raunchy. I know that most people love movie theaters but some people don't. Movie theaters are great in an essence, but just think of all the disgusting things that are there.

1. The food tastes like cardboard.

The only way that you can make the popcorn taste good is if you drown it in liquified butter. It's not even butter, it's an oil that has an artificial butter flavor. So you're just eating chemicals and trans fat. The nachos that you can get tastes stale, and the "cheese" to go alongside with it tastes like the cheese that you can squeeze out of a bottle. The only good thing would be the candy or the fountain drinks.

2. The movie seats are never clean.

Have you ever noticed that before you sit down you have to wipe it down with your hands or a napkin because there's popcorn on the seat? Well let me tell you...the seats are never cleaned, even the leather ones. They are just replaced every 10-15 years. So when you think about it...you could easily get sick, or even lice because lice love warmth, and would love to jump in your hair. Remember that next time.

3. Teenagers are nasty.

We've all been there during our teen years, where we go to the movies to make out, because our parents don't know that we've started kissing boys/girls at the age of 13. Well just going off experience, and not me of course but seeing it, teenagers also like to have sex in these seats. Especially the ones in the back corners of the dark theater. So next time if you hear something NOT coming from the movie, I would recommend not turning around.

4. Tickets are expensive now.

Tickets used to cost maybe 10 dollars when I was about 12 years old. Now that I am 18, they cost around 15 to 20 dollars for ONE TICKET. That's crazy. Especially for a college student. I would rather save that money for food, and wait until the movie is on Netflix, Hulu, or out in the stores. It's just not worth the cost, including when you add the "food".

I hope that this might help you take a better look at movie theaters the next time you want to go. I know it's gross but it's sadly the truth. Just remember that it is too expensive and not worth your time or money.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
