Why Halloween Is My Favorite Holiday

For those of who you know me well, you know that Halloween is absolutely my favorite holiday. There are many reasons why it is the best holiday in the books, but here are just a few.

You can be whatever you want.

You want to make your dream come true of being a mermaid? Do it. Wanna be a superhero? Yep, you can be one. You can be anything you want to be and it is totally acceptable!

The decorations are the best.

Halloween decorations are hands down the best! There are pumpkins, mums, fake spider webs, strobe lights, smog machines, dry ice, fake blood, fake limbs, and so many more things that you can dress up your house with to make it look awesome!

Halloween movies are the best kind of movies.

Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Halloween, Twitches, The Addams Family, The Haunted Mansion, Corpse Bride, Ghostbusters, It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Casper.. I mean honestly, I could go on for days!

The idea of Halloween is so exciting.

Not only do you get to dress up as whatever you want, but you get to walk around your neighborhood and get candy too! Honestly, what an awesome day!

The characters associated with Halloween are the best.

Frankenstein, witches, zombies, mummies, skeletons, ghosts, goblins, werewolves, and vampires! We all know these are typical characters that we associate with Halloween, but the cool thing about it is no matter who dresses up as them, they can always be interpreted differently! Just because two people are both being witches does not mean they will both be the same witch, and that is what I love about it.

Halloween activities are the most fun activities.

Halloween time brings fun activities. There are pumpkin patches, haunted houses, fun halloween parties, and so many other things that come along with Halloween during the month of October.

Halloween music is always a must.

I mean come on, Thriller, I Put A Spell On You, Ghostbusters, Monster Mash? How can you not absolutely love all of these songs. Not to mention, I am listening to a Halloween playlist as I write this blog right now.

The eerie feeling that lurks around Halloween is intriguing to me.

I love the scary and eerie feelings that come with Halloween. The cold air and new spooky dangers create a sense of adventure and excitement for me that I absolutely love!

The fall-time atmosphere just makes everything better.

Not only is fall the best season of the year, but having Halloween, which just so happens to be my favorite holiday, in my favorite season makes it even better. The atmosphere around Halloween is pure joy. With all the decorations, costumes, music, pretty colors, and yummy scents that come along with Halloween, how could you not be in love with this holiday?

You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
