Growing up with brothers can teach you a lot of yourself and life in general. My brothers are some of my greatest friends. They are unique in so many ways and have made such an impact in my life.
My brothers exposed me to sports, music, video games and so many other "boy things" and I am actually pretty grateful for that. They have shown me so many things about life and I'm sure they will continue to do so for the rest of our lives.
I am positive that they have made me a better woman. I have seen the worst and best in them, I have helped them just as they have helped me and I am extremely thankful to have them in my life.
You become patient.
Growing up with brothers, I have seen it all. The temper tantrums, the complaining about losing a sporting event or a video game. Even when my brothers forget things or frustrate me, I have learned how to stay calm and patient. I think that is a great quality to have.
You learn how to be the boss.
Boys aren't always the best at getting things accomplished, so in most cases it's my job to take charge and make sure we didn't make mom and dad mad. Even though my brothers didn't always like when I had to take charge, I think deep down it benefited both of us.
You can hold your own.
In a house hold full of boys, it is mandatory to know how to stand up for yourself. Rough housing was always a thing, even at a very young age. Because of this, I know how to stand up for myself, rather it be physically or mentally.
You will always be protected.
Between your brothers and your dad, someone will always have your back. I know that if I ever need anything, my brothers will be there. Yes, we fight but nothing could ever change the bond between a brother and sister.
You know how to get your way.
You become a master at arguing after having to deal with boys for so long. You know the ins and outs of winning an argument and you aren't afraid to step in and make things how you want them to be. Nothing's wrong with arguing when it benefits you in the long run.
You teach them how to respect a woman.
As long as I can remember, I have been trying to teach my brothers things about life. Whether it be with school, sports or friendships, I have told them all I know. One of the most important things I have taught them has been how to treat and respect a woman. I have given advice and I will give them that advice for as long as they need it. They respect me and their sister, so someday they will be able to respect another woman as their wife.
Having brothers is one of my favorite things about my life. My brothers are each so different, but have so many qualities I admire. Of course I get annoyed with the video game talk and sitting at sporting events, but at the end of the day I wouldn't change it for anything.
I have seen my brothers develop into such good people and someday they will be three amazing men. I have learned so much from them and I can't wait to see all they accomplish because then I can take some credit. I mean that is what sisters do.
