Family means the world to me. They’re the only ones who stay constant in a crazy world full of change. A lot of very lucky and fortunate people have great bonds with their immediate families, but to share a bond with your grandparents is something rarer and very very special. They’re the ones who started the family. Without them, none of us would be here. Our parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, siblings, and even ourselves.
When I think of my grandparents, I think about love. I think about kindness and loyalty. They’re the ones who love and care about you unconditionally through your low points, and support you and praise you during your high ones. They’re always greeting you with a smile… and lots and lots of food. They come to all your sporting events, making it apparent to the audience that they’re your biggest fan. They’re eager to hear about your day even if it was the worst one you think you’ve ever had- they want to make it better.
They brighten your day with emails, texts, cards, and phone calls. They get excited to meet your friends too- it’s just more people for them to love! I can’t put into words how great it feels to be loved by the ones who really know what love is. The stories they tell are priceless. They’ll teach you more than any real teacher ever could. They really are the greatest people in the entire world. Like the Italian Proverb says, “if things aren’t going too well, call your grandparents.”
With that being said, grandparents, I love you more than life! I am so unbelievably thankful for you and your unconditional love and support you give me every single day. Thank you for being my favorite people.
