Why Going Back To School Is The Best
Camryn Furgason

Going back to school has to be the best time of the year. Not the going to classes part for some people, but just getting back into that routine of seeing your closest friends all the time is for sure a good plus to start having to do homework again.

I bet you could think of so many other reasons as to why going back to school is amazing, but here are just a few.

Seeing your friends when you go back to school is really what most people look forward to. I mean most times your closest friends are your roommates that upcoming year or for some years in the past. Being able to have close friends as roommates really is just like having a sleepover everyday. Yes, I admit you do need your alone time, but you will get that don't worry.

Some people may have had internships over the summer and weren't able to be at home or even at school. They miss that atmosphere. They miss their friends, family, everything about it.

Also I mean think about it, when you think school starting, what do you think of? Here are a few words that come to mind for me at least, football and hockey season. Going back to school there isn't just homework, you have all kinds of fun activities. There will be football games where you can tailgate, family weekend, hockey games, recruitment, the weather changing, and much more. You get to be adventurous again. You are able to make rash decisions with being 100% okay with them. Go visit a few friends out of state for the weekend. Go home even if you really want, but going back to school does brighten you up. You may become stressed, but who doesn't now a days?

You get to go back to your jobs. Some people might not like where they work, but for the very few who already have jobs in their field and who look forward to them, then that is also something else that is exciting in the months of August and September.

Starting up classes can be fun too, especially if you enjoy your major. Learning about what you are interested in just makes doing homework more than doable, it makes it worth it. It makes you excited because once you start your classes freshman year to then taking your last one your senior year, or how ever many years it takes you, it's that feeling of everything you learned, you can now put forth into the real world. You will get to explore, adventure and live just like you always wanted. It will be a challenge yes, and things will not go as planned, but the end goal, once you finally reach it will be so worth it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
