One of the hardest things to ever understand: Why does this great God let us go through pain?
So, what’s the answer? Why would you let someone you love so greatly go through so much pain? Well, let me ask you, what’s the greatest pain you have ever experienced? How did it make you feel? I bet sometimes you felt hopeless, or lonely… didn’t you? I will tell you I am obviously not God; I am certainly nowhere close. I fail every day, and every day I am learning more and more about Him. But this is what I have learned about pain in my 18 years.
Did you ever think maybe He is letting you go through this because He wants to comfort you. He wants to be the one there for you when you’re lonely. The problem usually is that when we go through such great pain, He is the last one we look to. Unfortunately, this makes us endure even more pain. “Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and he binds up their wounds.”
What about when you felt hopeless? Did you ever think that He is your hope? Hebrews 6:19 “For we have this hope as an anchor for the soul.” Did you feel like this pain was never going to end? When we hope in him and his promises and believe that he is coming back that ends the pain.
I cannot tell you one trial I have been through that has not made me stronger. There has not been one that didn’t add to my testimony, not one that didn’t glorify Him in every way. I can tell you trials are not easy, pain is not easy, but it’s easier with Jesus. When you go through trials, He works for you well. This is how we know who He is. This is why we can witness that He is true and that He is God.
The pain ends when we put our faith in Him, and when we put our faith in Him we grow closer to him. That’s what He wants. We go through pain to grow closer to Him, to learn that when we are weak He is strong. To learn that He is the only one who can take care of us, the only one who can and will answer our prayers. He wants our hurt to be someone else’s hope. So, whether you are going through trials now, or maybe you’re about to remember these things. Make sure you’re relying on Him and growing closer to Him. Make sure you know that this pain will end, and this pain is part of a glorious plan that you could never even imagine for yourself. “Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, crying, or pain anymore, for the things of the world will pass.”
So just like James 1:2 tells us… consider trials joy. Trials mean that God is working on you as well as through you. Remember He is God and He is the one who has overcome the world.
