It's backkkk! Yep, it’s that time of year again! Nothing beats waking up to start tailgating at 8 am or the game day cookouts. Seeing the die-hard fans paint up for the games or hearing your dad scream at the players on TV, makes Saturday everyone’s favorite day. Taking those game day pictures even though your hair and makeup are a melting mess. Seeing your school’s jerseys everywhere. That’s right, nothing compares to football season!
Everyone loves football, right? I mean, it's kind of hard not to get intense watching a close game when the referees are horrible. But what really makes girls love this manly game so much? Is it the food? The fans? The school pride? The men who are actually playing? Trying to impress a man? Or is it all of those things?
Although girls can’t necessarily play football, that never stops us from getting dressed up and ready for game day. Not every girl understands football, or really even wants to, but that doesn’t stop us from loving it.
Here’s why girls seem to really love football:
The pants
The player’s pants, that is. I mean come on, have you ever looked at how appealing those guys look in their football pants? The pants highlight their best features- their calves, their quads, and of course, the hamstrings. How could a girl not love a sport where guys run around in tight pants?
The tailgates
Seeing family and friends setting up a tent at 7 am and putting out food at 8? That’s the best feeling. Although you had to wake up at 6 am on a Saturday, it was worth it to look cute for the pregame pictures on the bed of a truck. Everyone around you is wearing your school colors and all seem to be in the best mood, just because it's game day. The food tastes so good, the music is so loud, and the drinks are so refreshing. Everyone loves a good tailgate.
The intensity
Not just the intensity of the fans in the stands or at a cookout, but the player’s intensity. There is something so sexy about a man having a passion and drive to win and compete.
THE ARMS
I mean really. All different shapes and sizes, but all seem to have one thing in common- THEY. ARE. JACKED, and we love them all. The arms range from scared and tattooed, to tan and cut. There is nothing finer than a pair of big strong arms.
The sweat
I know, standing in the stands and sweating isn’t very enjoyable, but seeing those guys on the field sweat, that’s nice to look at. I don’t care how gross you think sweat is, when a man is drenched and has sweat dripping off his face… well that can make a girl love football in itself.
Cookouts
Tasting those burgers that are right off the grill. So juicy and flavorful. The salty chips and homemade dip that are to die for. The cold drinks. The big TV with everyone standing around it screaming. Seeing everyone in their different jerseys cheering on the team that they love. Saturday cookouts are perfect. How could a lady not love burgers, chips, and people yelling at a TV?
The Uniforms
No matter who you're cheering for, we can all agree that the guys look good in a football uniform. Clean before the game and grass stained after. Looking sharp, put together, and as a unit. After all, every woman loves a man in uniform.
The weather
Being able to see the leaves fall to the ground and the trees turn colors is so beautiful in itself. Not to mention getting to break out that cute sweater and boots you’ve missed so much. Covering up with a blanket in the stands or sitting by a fire at home and watching the game on TV, nothing beats football weather.
After parties after a big win
Been up tailgating since 8am? No problem, just going to keep on celebrating that big win till 1am the next morning. This might call for a touch-up on the makeup, hair, and deodorant, but at least we won, right? It’s even better when the star football player shows up and takes a picture with you. This is just another reason we girls love football.
Although some of us girls may not know a thing about football, except for the words “touchdown” and “interception”, we seem to love the game. Football is such a manly sport and something about men hitting each other at full speed and strength is so appealing to us. Maybe this brings out our primal instinct? I don’t know, but I love it. However, a mixture of the fans, the players, the weather, the parties, and the food seem to make us love football.
Here’s to a great season!
