Why "Girl Hate" Makes No Sense

The best and most glorified 'girl hate' is televised every Monday on The Bachelor

If you've tuned in every Monday night for season twenty-one of The Bachelor, you've probably established an opinion on who is called the "villain of this season" - Corinne. But, week after week passed and while the other girls continued to attack Corinne, it hasn't registered to me yet what she's actually done to any of them. And then it hit me, "girl hate" can blow up over nothing, and girls will hate each other for being nothing shy of themselves.

But, if you haven't been up to date on this season, let's analyze if Corrine is really the "villain" of the season, or if it's the other ten contestants trash talking her.

The drama started off the very first night the bachelor aired, so Corrine knew right from the get-go she was a target for the season. The first night at the cocktail party, Corinne was the first of the contestants to get to kiss Nick, the men they all signed up to date. For those who didn't know, the point of The Bachelor is to potentially be engaged to this man. Signing up for the process you know he will be all over girls right in front of your face; the process is pretty screwed up. Don't hate the player, hate the game. If it was any of them, they'd be ecstatic to get good attention, but instead, they displayed her as a "slut."

Another thing the girls loved to hate about Corinne was the fact she had a nanny help her out at her time at home. The girls laughed about the matter behind her back and even addressed it to Nick, The Bachelor, as being 'concerned about her maturity.' Her parents are running a multi million dollar company, maybe they don't have time to give to her daughter and she feels lonely, or maybe she just needs some extra f*cking help. No matter the reasoning, her lifestyle should not be an issue to anyone but her.

And, finally, Corinne is seen as the wrongdoer for the entire series because of her sleeping. She missed a rose ceremony because she had fallen asleep and you would have thought she set the house on fire. The girls went wild. They talked to each other and Nick about how immature she was and that she wasn't here for the right reasons. I would again, like to clarify, that the only thing she was doing was taking a nap. We've all been in situations where we didn't sleep much the night before and it is physically impossible to keep your eyes open. Sometimes resting your eyes for a few minutes turns into an hour snooze. She should not have been targeted for falling asleep. And come on, she did say it best "Abraham Lincoln took naps."

Usually The Bachelor villain is a girl who is a total monster, this girl usually starts fights in the house and gets verbal with the other contestants. But Corrine, on the contrary, has done absolutely none of that to anyone, she is receiving the lash of "girl hate" for being her funny and silly self.

This season of The Bachelor was an eye opener for me about "girl hate." Girls can pair up and target someone who does absolutely nothing. "Girl Squads" should build others up, not tear them down. I'm not saying i've been a victim of this, but I challenge everyone from here on out to examine if people really deserve all the hate they get from girl groups.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
