Mothers, what great human beings AM I RIGHT? It's the most wonderful time of the year, CHRISTMAS TIME. You search stores, you search online, you ask family members, but what do you get your beautiful mother for this beautiful holiday?

So, why is getting a Christmas gift for my mom so difficult?

My mom raised me, she spent endless nights with me until 3 am when I was too little to understand that she was sleep deprived and probably had dry puke on her shoulder (from me).

My mom put a roof over my head, she made sure I had everything I could ever need to be a healthy, happy child. She did everything in her power to make sure I was always safe and nothing was going to happen to me.

My mom went through life with me, what I mean by that is at the most difficult times my mom was right there to lean my head on, the person who wiped my tears and rubbed my back. She was also there for the great times in life, the times I was so happy and she was even happier. You know your mother loves you when your sadness is her sadness and your happiness is her happiness.

My mom is the most amazing, strong, beautiful woman I know. So, how can I possibly pick out a Christmas gift when this woman deserves the entire world but my bank account says I can only afford a candle? It's impossible to give this lady what she truly deserves. But I know this Christmas I will give her the unconditional love that she deserves, because there is no one more amazing than my mother, I am so thankful.

I love you, Mom. Thank you for everything.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
