Jordan Peele may have written one of the most realistic horror movies ever. Attention grabbing from beginning to end, Get Out, is one of the best movies released this year so far. This suspense thriller will have you engaged from beginning to end and wondering who, what, when, and how.

The film, written and directed by Jordan Peele, stars Daniel Kaluuya as Chris and Allison Williams as Rose. Kaluuya is a British actor set to star in the upcoming film Black Panther, and Williams currently stars in the HBO series Girls.

The film is about Chris, a black man who visits the family of his white girlfriend, Rose, for the weekend. From the moment he gets there things already seem to be bizarre. As the movie progresses, abnormalities increase. But even taking this into consideration, the actions of Chris are realistic. He makes common sense decisions that anyone would make if placed in his position. The film is clearly written with idea that if in a life or death situation, humans’ first instinct is survival and tackles issues of race and guilt. It includes elements of comedy as well. The character of Rod, a TSA officer and Chris’ friend, becomes the comic relief and ultimately the hero of the film.

After a successful first week at the box office, Get Out seems to be the movie that everyone wants to go see. If you want to be filled with suspense, a little scared, and laugh at a few jokes this is the movie to see.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
