Can we all just make a collective agreement and say "waste of time." I think general requirements are so stupid. It’s obvious that we’re taking them to stay longer at the school, giving the school more money. General Ed’s are to length of schooling as length of schooling is to more money. Therefore, the length of general ed’s is to more money spent on undergrad. Guys, I just made a deductive argument (thanks PHI 107).
I’m a science major for a reason. Between my psychology/neuroscience double major and pre-med requirements (and maybe a bio minor), a writing class is not needed. Neither is a religion class, history of music, or history of mars. I mean, don’t get me wrong; some general requirements are useful. Math and science classes are worthwhile, but that’s just me being biased because I’m a science major. For example, I needed my calculus class. It worked out in that it covered my basic math requirements AND my pre-med requirements. My analysis of trash class? Yea that doesn’t help me. I feel like all these classes are a waste of time. I have an excellent example coming up next!
After spending hours going over what to take for this semester, I finally settled on a philosophy class. After going through rate my professor for dozens of classes, the class I chose was the worst of all choices. But let me explain. Everyone said the class was a joke; an easy A. With Organic Chem II and Advanced Neuroscience, there was no way in hell I was taking a hard class. Some of the general requirements for the humanities are notoriously difficult. I chose a notoriously easy class. Except this isn't an easy class. The moment I step into the class, my brain starts to deteriorate. My body may remain in the room, but I astral project to another dimension. This teacher is literally the worst teacher on the planet. He plays random music and has no idea what he's talking about. I swear on my life when I say for the past 5 lectures, he's done the same lecture each time. I'm debating on going to the philosophy department to report him. Every class, he asks who's smoked crack for the day. He's racist and ignorant. I hate him. Just like I hate gen eds.
As much as I would love to put the professor on blast and say his name, I'll let it slide. Unfortunately, I already bought the textbook so I can't drop the class. I guess I deserve it for looking for such an easy way out. Except it gets worse. I'm taking two other gen eds as well. Let me go wallow in my own misery. Will you cry with me? Misery loves company.
