I am sure that everyone can agree that trips to the beach, sunny days spent out in the ocean and days full of soaking up the sun are much anticipated during these hot summer months. But sometimes, it’s nice to have a vacation that does not include the same routine every day. If you are ever wondering where you could go to experience an exciting and eventful vacation that is something different then all the rest, worry no more because I know the perfect vacation spot! Here are some reasons why Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is for you!

1. Dollywood

While boardwalk rides are fun and exciting, nothing is more thrilling than riding roller coaster after roller coaster all day. This theme park named after Dolly Parton includes an abundant amount of rides, as well as a water park the whole family can enjoy. Don't forget your appetite, as there are places to eat all around.

2. Food (The most important part)

I am positive that anyone who has eaten at any of the various restaurants in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge can agree with me that these restaurants have some of the best food around. Southern cooked meals, good ‘ol southern hospitality and the overall friendly atmosphere of places such as The Old Mill and The Alamo make you want to come back for more (Trust me, I ALWAYS go back for more).

3. Scenery

As soon as you pull into Pigeon Forge, everything kind of hits you at once, but the most noticed characteristic is the mountains. You just can’t miss them as they surround the whole area around you. Many of the cabins and resorts that can be rented are on the top of mountains which overlook all of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. If you aren’t able to stay at a place on top of a mountain, you can still experience all the gorgeous views no matter where you go. You are surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and honestly, what is more breathtaking?

4. Tourist Attractions

Whether you like shopping, siting by the pool or experiencing the great outdoors, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have something for everybody. Some fun, outdoor, adventure type of activities that are offered include zip lining, white water rafting, Dollywood, mini golf, alpine coasters, The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel (a wheel that rises up to 200 feet looking over the mountains), go karts and so much more. If you are more the type that likes to stay indoors, especially in the heat of summer, there is just as much to do. Haunted houses such as The Mysterious Mansion and Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, Outlets for shopping, boardwalk type stores, wax museums, aquariums, moonshine distilleries, and an abundant amount of dinner shows such as the Dixie Stampede, all provide entertainment to those who do and do not enjoy to be outside. A day doesn’t go by where you are wondering what to do and to me that is what vacation is all about.

5. Holidays

Each season in Pigeon Forge brings along events that are held to get everyone into the holiday spirit. What gets you in the mood for a holiday more than a special celebration to ring it in? Spring rings in the start of a new season and warm weather with a three month long Spring Fest consisting of a Bluegrass festival, arts and crafts show and a Dollywood parade among many more spring activities. Once summer hits, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are in full swing with tourists from all around the world. Once the weather starts to cool down and fall approaches, Smoky Mountains Harvest Festival begins. Not only is the scenery absolutely beautiful with all the fall colors and foliage, the town puts on a big celebration ringing in the fall season. Some fun events include Oktoberfest, Gatlinburg’s Craftsmen Fair and also a Thanksgiving Arts Craft Show. Once the weather has really cooled down and everyone starts to get into the Christmas spirit, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge get the holidays kicked off with a bang. Family events such as the Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade, Winter Fest and Gatlinburg’s Winter Magic all bring families and friends together to get excited for the Christmas season. It is the most wonderful time of year to take a trip to Tennessee!

Many people choose to stay in their comfort zone and take a vacation to a well-known area that they have visited before, but where is the excitement in that? I take a week-long vacation to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge every year during all different seasons and I never run out of activities to do. Whether you are getting married, planning a family vacation, honeymoon or even just a small, weekend getaway Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee will not disappoint you.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
