8 Reasons You Know Your True Best Friend Is Food
Stephanie Liu

Let’s be honest, there is never a bad time for food. Food is one of your best friends because food will never leave you! It’s easy to incorporate this into any part of your life, whether it be used as a motivator, a form of comfort, or pure happiness. You’ve got all types of food as well. Healthy and delicious, comfy and hearty, and who doesn’t love a bit of junk food?

1. It motivates you.

Food is a great motivator when it comes to homework and school. Homework can be tedious and seem boring, but when you allow yourself to have a treat for doing a certain amount of responsibilities, food acts like a great reward.

2. It can be good for your relationships.

How can food influence a relationship? Well, it gives a fun activity for you and your friends or significant other to do! Whether it be making new recipes for your family, making brownies for your friends, or making dinner together with a significant other. Food brings people together.

3. You can count on it.

You can always count on food for being there for you when you need it most! Even if it’s not the healthiest, sometimes you just need a good cry with some Oreos and ice cream to make everything better.

4. It goes well with exercise.

After you exercise, food is absolutely a necessity! For me, sometimes exercising actually pushes me to eat healthier, but also makes me feel less guilty about eating food I really shouldn’t eat.

5. It's good for bribery.

Food is the ultimate weapon to get what you want. If you offer someone compensation in the form of food for doing something for you, they will most likely oblige immediately. If you ever need a favor but don’t have any money, a homemade meal will suffice in payment. Even if you are just bribing yourself to accomplish something in your life, you know food is the perfect reward for moving forward.

6. It's free if you work in food service.

If you work in a food service industry, you are one of the lucky ones. As a worker, you’re bound to get discounted, or even free food in the locations you work at. No one has ever complained about getting free food.

7. Picnics are a thing.

Want an excuse to go outside? Picnics are a fun activity to do with your friends and family, a date with your pets, or just a nice time for yourself. You can people watch, have nice conversations, and relax with the company of delicious food.

8. It gives you an excuse to go on a date.

There is never a bad time for food. There’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, happy hour, and midnight runs to 24-hour diners and fast food chains. Food dates are like adventures with another, while you talk about whatever you want to do, in the company of yummy food.

Food is the ultimate friend for life. Food does a lot more than give you nutrition. Food brings you happiness, allows you to sleep well, and brings you and the important people in your together.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
