Now that it's summer, it’s the perfect time to vacation. I’m not talking about your family annual road trip to go see Grandma. You need a real vacation. What better place is there to vacation than sunny Florida? Florida offers perfect vacation spots for young or old and everyone in between. Being a Floridian myself, I know of a few places that will definitely make this summer worthwhile.
Let’s start with my hometown, Orlando. You can relax poolside at one of The Walt Disney World Resorts or please your inner kid by visiting the plethora of theme parks it has to offer. At the end of the day when you’re too hot and sweaty to function, you can wind down over dinner at one of the many restaurants located in the heart of Orlando.
Just a short drive from Orlando lies America’s oldest city, The St. Augustine Historic District. Whatever you want to do, St. Augustine has it all. St. Augustine has many restaurants and shops to offer anyone who is interested. Taking a ghost tour around the Castillo de San Marcos is a must! Or you can take a relaxing stroll along the Matanzas River. Once the sun goes down you can hit up the many bars and pubs centrally located downtown.
What’s a summer vacation without going to the beach? Most people see Florida as just one big giant beach and well, it basically is. There are many popular beaches that are known to be perfect vacation spots such as, Daytona, Clearwater and Miami. My personal favorite is Key West. It has a ton of activities to offer the whole family. Dad and the boys can go deep sea fishing while Mom and the girls go shopping. You never have to worry about going hungry because Key West offers multiple restaurants with a wide variety of cuisine. While you are there, stop by the Southernmost point for a family photo!
Florida consists of even more vacation spots, but these three are just a few of my favorites. Any of these locations add up to an awesome summer vacation. I hope I’ve inspired you to get off the couch and go someplace new this summer. If you have already been to all three of these locations, then why not venture and find yourself a new favorite vacation spot of your own? Wherever you go, don’t forget to pack your sunscreen. Florida is down for a good time this summer, all it needs is you.
