Growing up with a house that had a river access directly below it will always be one of my favorite memories. Summers at the river are a different style of peace. If you have ever been canoeing or kayaking then you know just how fun it can be. Sure, floating can be fun when it’s done one white rafts or huge flowing currents. But when you take the time to float down a peaceful and scenery filled river, you won’t want to turn back!
This week I went floating- that’s right, in forty-fifty degree weather, and it was one of the best days Ive had in months! I wore a sweat shirt pretty well the whole time, but that didn’t stop the amazing scenery and colorful greenery from engulfing us!
Our float was about 3 and half hours, a pretty short float time over all. We took our speaker to listen to music (being the only ones on the river at this time of year had its perks) and then we took off.
If I had to sum up how to enjoy floating on a chilly day this would be it:
Music, kayaks, friends, sweatshirts and drinks.
Have you ever listened to music on a calm float? The river gives such a peaceful water rippling background that just flows with every song you could possibly play.
And I don’t even have the words to describe the beauty that the trees and woods emits. The greens and yellows that bridge over the waters. It’s amazing to take it.
Usually I am more preoccupied with my tan or which bluff to jump off- but when you float a Missouri river in Spring, you get the most soothing, gorgeous 4 hours of your life!
If you ever need some activity to clear your mind, soothe your soul, or appreciate life in general, I HIGHLY recommend jumping on a MO river. It’ll be the best afternoon you’ve had in a while.
