Don't Know Wawa? I Feel Sorry For You.

You just don't know happiness until you've had a Wawa hoagie.

Don't Know Wawa? I Feel Sorry For You.

I feel sorry for people every time I’m at school in the south and say, “I want Wawa,” and they respond with, “what is Wawa?” I immediately become overwhelmed with a cluster of emotions. Feelings of anger, sadness but mostly sorrow. Thoughts run through my head… How does one not know Wawa?

How does one live their life without it? I am so incredibly sorry to hear that. Those who are not from the Mid-Atlantic region do not understand the joy that it can bring to one’s life. It baffles me every time someone asks, “Well what’s so special about a gas station that makes sandwiches?” Stop right there. You just won’t understand the satisfaction until it’s 3 am and you’re unwrapping that white & red wrap in the passenger seat of your friend's car, devouring a warm chicken parm hoagie.

There is nothing that screams childhood more than sprinting through the Wawa doors after a sports game and running right to that touch-screen. And there's no greater feeling than coming home from college and going straight to Wawa because your college doesn't have any near it. After 50 years, it manages to stay consistent, if not, get better and better. The hoagies never disappoint, no matter which Wawa you go to. That’s the glory of it, is that with 680+ locations along the East coast, it is (almost) everywhere. You most likely have three within ten minutes from your house, and if not, I am deeply sorry for you. But I hurt even more for you if you don’t know what it is.

Wawa is the greatest place there is. t's the one-stop shop for everything. Gas, sandwiches, milkshakes, coffee, smoothies, chips, ice cream, all of your tobacco needs, mac and cheese bowls, mashed potatoes, and the list goes on and on. The best place to stop before a road trip, during a road trip and basically any time of the day since it's open 24/7. After a night out, when it’s 4 a.m. and you're starving, there are two options: McDonalds or Wawa, obviously Wawawins. Nothing can beat it. You don’t get tired of it, because when you get tired of your first hoagie choice, you have a backup hoagie choice. And a backup backup hoagie choice. If not, you can always indulge in the fancier selection of grapes & cheese or cannoli dip & chips.

No, it is not a fast food place. No, it is not "gross" that you can get gas and dinner at the same time. No, it is DEFINITELY not better than Sheetz (for all you Southerners), but yes, it really is that spectacular that I felt the need to write an article about it. If you’ve never had it before, I highly suggest you make it a priority. If you are a Wawa-crazed groupie like me, keep doing what you’re doing. It’s the #1 convenient store in America (literally, America voted on it) for a reason. Gottahava Wawa.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
