Fall has always been my favorite season, and will probably always be. My obsession with a pumpkin scented items, PSLs, wearing jeans and sweaters, and anything Halloween has only grown over the years. Growing up in the north means that I am used to having four seasons, therefore the weather most definitely plays a big part in fall. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love living and going to School in the south, but there are some things that just don't compare. Thus, here are my few complaints and reasons why Fall in the south is a northerner's nightmare.
1. It's Hot As Hell
Growing up in the midwest means having four seasons, whereas here there are not. How can I feel as if I am meant to be drinking a PSL, wearing scarves and boots, and going to haunted houses when it still feels like a hot July day?
2. Hot Drinks In Hot Weather (I'm looking at you, PSL!)
As I walk to my classes in the midst of an 85-degree-plus humidity day, the last thing I can think about drinking is a hot pumpkin spice latte. Although in my mind I dream of drinking one and being surrounded by the colors of the changing leaves and cool weather, this is not reality. Reality is is that I am sprinting to my classes, sweating, and chugging a water bottle. If only cool, fall weather made it's way to the South in the Fall months so I can consume copious amounts of PSLs.
3. You Can't Dress How You Want To
My closet is filled with a plethora of jeans, leather jackets, scarves, and boots, yet I cannot wear them for awhile *sigh.* Although I cannot complain about dressing in trendy rompers, skirts, or dresses, it's nice to change it up. All I'm saying is that I cannot wait to put on a leather jacket and a pair of jeans, is that too much for a girl to ask for?
4. It Just Doesn't Feel The Same
The smells, food, and atmosphere just doesn't compare. Fall in the north means haunted houses, hay rides, hot apple cider, apple cider donuts and crisp weather. How am I supposed to light my pumpkin scented candle and watch Halloweentown if I still feel like its the middle of summer?
