Way back in January, it was announced that Netflix would be making a Gilmore Girls Revival miniseries. If you're anything like me, the news excited you immediately. I've always loved Gilmore Girls, and the show will forever hold a special place in my heart. I can remember it always being the first thing I watched in the morning right before school, and it never failed to put me in a better mood for the day. So, now I definitely have plans to sit in front of the TV and cry on November 25th. What else do we have to look forward to in regards to the show?
1. It won't be a regular season.
This news both excited me and made me a little sad. Gilmore Girls will return with four 90-minute episodes with each episode taking place during one of the seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. (This means that I, a professional binge-watcher, will finish it in a night or two. Oh well). It will also take place in the present day, which will be awesome because I've always wondered what happened to everyone in Stars Hollow after the finale.
2. They will address Edward Hermann's death.
Edward Hermann, who played Richard Gilmore, passed away in 2014 from brain cancer. Fans loved his sense of humor and relationship with his family on the show. I think it will be interesting to see how the Gilmore family deals with his lost, especially Emily. I know fans will definitely be thinking about him a lot.
3. Most of the original cast is back.
Almost all of the original stars have been confirmed as returning, including Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore), Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Scott Patterson (Luke Danes), Keiko Agena (Lane Kim), Liza Weil (Paris Geller), Yanic Truesdale (Michel Gerard), Melissa Mccarthy (Sookie) and Sean Gunn (Kirk Gleason). One of my biggest concerns was that the show would be missing some of my favorite characters, so it's comforting to hear that nearly everyone is returning to Stars Hollow.
4. The boys are back in town.
Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess Mariano), and Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger) will all be returning to Stars Hollow. The question is, which one of them does Rory end up with? Jess, Logan, or Dean? (I've never been a fan of Dean but I love Jared with all my heart, so I'm torn.) I literally can't wait to see what happens between the boys and Rory, but until then I guess I'll have to rewatch old Jess+Rory scenes and cry.
5. Luke and Lorelai still aren't married.
Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Luke and Lorelai will not be married when the show kicks off. Some fans have a theory that they will be engaged when the revival begins, which is the most I can hope for at this point. Any fan of the show understands just how frustrating it was that they didn't end up together. They're the original OTP.
6. The final four words will finally be revealed.
Most Gilmore Girls fans know that Amy Sherman-Palladino has said that she had planned out what the "final four words" of the show were going to be. Unfortunately, she didn't end up involved with the final season of the original Gilmore Girls, so fans never got to know what they were. Amy still kept them secret all of these years in case the show ever made it to the big screen or anything. Fans will have to wait until the miniseries finale to find out what they are, but we already know that Lorelai and Rory are the ones to say the final line, which means it'll make for an amazing ending.
I have a lot of hope for the Gilmore Girls revival, and I'm super excited about it. Just knowing that I'll be able to see my favorite characters again and experience an episode for the first time instead of in reruns is amazing. At least we don't have to wait much longer.
