Why Everyone Should Travel More

You will get way more out of it than just the Insta pics.

Why Everyone Should Travel More

I went on my first plane ride when I was six weeks old. It was a 14 hour-long flight and I screamed the entire way as my aunt walked me up and down the airplane aisles. Since then, it is safe to say I have become a much more experienced flyer as well as better traveler.

There is so much of the world to see, and I believe that the more of the world you experience the more you will discover about yourself and life. While the idea of travel and other cultures can be daunting, below are a few reasons why EVERYONE should get out and experience as much as the world as they can (or at least leave their home state). If you have the means to, GO. You will get more out of the journey than you would have ever believed.

Here are just a FEW reasons I love to travel:

  1. NO other state has anything on Californian beaches.
  2. There is something magical about a tropical island sunset.
  3. You haven't tasted sweet until you've had Southern sweet tea.
  4. Learning about other cultures will open your mind (and heart).
  5. Irish accents will make you melt.
  6. Getting lost and finding your way again gives you an indefinite amount of confidence.
  7. You will embarrass yourself in a new environment-and gain the greatest stories to tell at parties.
  8. Perspective is all too easy when thousands of feet up in an airplane.
  9. The food. You can't beat authentic.
  10. Independence, anonymity, and that feeling of complete freedom.

It doesn't matter where you go. It just matters that you do.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Kent State University
Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
