Why You Should Live In A Big City At Least Once

Moving or living in a city can seem daunting at first. Cities are big and full of so many people, but that is exactly what makes them so great. Living in a city is guaranteed to broaden your horizons and open the doors to new experiences. If you're not convinced yet, keep reading.

The views

This really goes without saying. In any city, the skyline is the most notable feature and stands out even from a distance. There's also no denying how amazing it looks at any time of the day.

Green space

A lot of people don't like big cities because they think there's a lack of nature. Sure, there's far less greenery than in the suburbs but the green space that is present is beautiful. Nothing beats a nice day in a city park, admiring the architecture around you.

Being able to walk almost anywhere

Walking is the best form of transportation for so many reasons. It's great exercise, it's available 24/7, and most importantly, it's free.

Too far to walk? Public transportation is there for you.

Of course there are times when you can't walk where you need to go. But that's what public transportation is for. Every major city in the world has a system, whether it be buses or subways. The best part? It's affordable.

The diversity

Cities have large populations and therefore also offer enormous diversity. From Chinatown to Little Italy, every city has a hub for individual cultures. With this comes the opportunity to sample the world in one place.

Food

Cities have so much to offer when it comes to food. The abundance of eateries alone is great and there's definitely something for every budget, mood, and preferences.

Arts

Nothing beats the city for the arts. From plays, live shows, and museums, to clubs, concerts, and festivals, cities have the most to offer. Living in the city is super convenient when your favorite band or show comes to town, because chances are you don't have to travel very far.

Shopping

Great for convenience, terrible for your wallet. Regardless, cities have every store you could imagine. It's also undeniable that cities are the go-to places for current trends and styles.

Endless opportunities

Whether you're a student or adult, the city will help you further your interests. So many people move to the city in search of opportunity and I mean, they're not lying. Cities have so much to offer to advance your education or career.

You will never be bored.

It's impossible to live in a city and complain of boredom. It just doesn't happen. There's always something going on, any time of the day. And if you can't find anything, you can always just take a walk and admire your bustling and lively home.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
