Who does not like Marvel movies? More specifically, who does not like the Avengers? Almost nobody! Pretty much everyone loves Marvel in some way. With an opening weekend totally $1.2 billion globally, it is no mystery how popular the final movie in the series is. The only problem is that three hours does not seem to do the plot justice.
Warning! Possible spoilers ahead!
The movie starts out very strong (of course – it is a Disney/Marvel production). We receive a ton of information from multiple perspectives and times to set up a five-year time gap, perfect for the situation.
The movie felt rushed
Despite setting up the time skip well, some of the plot seemed a little rushed, especially towards the end. It felt as if directors were like "we can't have a four hour movie so how do we cut it to 3?" The epic battle scene that included every character from the Marvel universe could have been extended beyond the mere 20-30 minutes it was.
The heartbreaking fall
We all know Robert Downing Jr. is starting to get older. We all know that he is literally irreplaceable, and that no other actor could ever do Iron Man. I can see where allowing Iron Man to die could fit Downing Jr's needs as an actor—going out with a bang. Or should I say a snap of his fingers? I definitely was hoping to hear more from him when he died or at least have a longer speech of him on his holographic message.
Leaves you wanting more
Except there is no more that lies ahead. I definitely got a full picture of the plot from the movie, but I would not have minded two parts, either. Two parts could have done the series more justice, in my unprofessional, marvel-movie-goer opinion.
Avengers will be missed
It is crazy to think my kids may grow up in a world where watching Avengers movies every April/May is not a thing anymore. Regardless, I loved Endgame, just like I loved every other Avengers movie. And I will always love "America's Ass."
