Everyone has a "go to" movie; it's the movie you watch whenever you need a pick-me-up. It's the movie that never fails to make you smile and forget about your troubles for a while. My "go to" movie is "Elf." This movie makes me laugh and become completely absorbed in the story. It is a movie that I can,and have, watched over and over. "Elf" is my "go to" movie because:

1. "Elf" is a Christmas movie. Christmas is my favorite holiday, and watching this film gives me a little slice of Christmastime all year round.

2. Buddy is such an innocent and happy character.

3. And his happiness is infectious.

4. I love Buddy's relationship with Jovie.

5. And his relationship with his brother.

6. And his relationship with his dad.

7. And his relationship with Papa Elf.

8. This movie is about a Christmas elf who found out he was adopted and decided to go to New York City to find his human father. He went to elf school and built toys before going off on a world-wind adventure in the Big Apple and ultimately saving Christmas.

9. This movie is hilarious. Because Buddy was raised in the North Pole, he's pretty clueless on how things work. For example, he has trouble using the escalator.

10. I love the fact that there is a random narwhal.

11. Buddy's journey is so fantastical.

12. Buddy tries to hug a raccoon.

13. Buddy gets into a fight with a children's author because he innocently calls him an elf.

14. This movie shows that one person can make a difference. Buddy changed the lives of everyone around him. He caused Jovie to get into the Christmas spirit, Michael, his brother, to be happier, his dad to get off the naughty list, and ultimately Santa's sled to fly.

Some people's "go to" movie may be a romantic comedy or an action film. For me, it is Elf. I love the characters and the story. After a rough day, nothing puts a smile on my face and cheers me up like this movie.
