As soon as I hear that beautiful and unique voice, I'm in heaven. Yes, I'm talking about Ed Sheeran and why I think he is a genuine act of talent. I know we all have favorite musicians, but every time I listen to his music, I can't even fathom how awesome he is!
Ed writes his own songs. He has written the majority of his songs, and I know that's one reason I'm drawn to his music. I don't have the intentions of being one of those people who claim they only like a musician because of the originality, because there's more to this than just writing a song. Ed tells stories about his life and I'm invested in his stories. I think they are so interesting and he sings with such passion because they are all true and real and that's one of the reasons that his music is so special.
Ed is also true to himself. I don't know him personally, and it may seem crazy for me to even make that statement, but the proof is in his whole persona and his music. I went to his concert back in May, and he was his complete self on stage. He wore jeans and a t-shirt and he didn't have on a flashy getup, but he stuck true to himself. He continues to do that, and in his song "Take It Back" he says "I'll never have a stylist giving me tight jeans" which to me means that he sticks to his own self and I love that! I relate to his music and him even more when I think about how he is so relatable because he's normal. He's not flashy, or sparkly or whatever, but himself.
Besides all of those other great qualities to him, he is a genuinely hard worker! He left high school to pursue his dream. He once performed over 300 shows in one year (that's amazing and an insane amount of work). He once said that he used to sound awful singing, but he kept on practicing and bettering himself. He learned how to master the loop pedal (which by the way is so unique and makes his music ten times cooler than before). He also writes songs for other people and genuinely cares for the people he works with. He also shreds at guitar. Literally. At his concert, during one of his songs, it was so intense that I'm pretty sure the guitar could have crumbled at any moment because he was getting it. He also played at Wembley Stadium! That's an amazing accomplishment, especially considering that the stadium seats 80,000 people and he played there three nights in a row!
Let's just say that I could go on for days about him and that I have both of his albums on vinyl, and I love his EPs and I love his red hair and my favorite song of his is probably either "Give Me Love" or "Homeless" (also I love his cover of "Wayfaring Stranger"), and that I think he is amazing and extremely talented.
