For many college students, spring break is just around the corner with the promises of sweet freedom from academic responsibilities. For many of us broke AF college kids, jammin' it up on Long Beach or in Orlando isn't really tangible. But have no fear, I'm going to lay down some truth bombs on you on why staying in your apartment or dorm over the break is the best way to spend your break.

First of all, you're going to save so much money staying in. Think about it: you don't have to spend your hard earned cash on hotels, or tours, or gas, or even overpriced cocktails and food. Nah fam, you get to keep the money you would have spent on all that junk in your bank account to use on important things like extra guac with your Chipolte burrito.

Second, you don't have to play mom to all your drunk friends over the break. Or better yet, you can get shit faced in the comfort of your own home. No embarrassing Instagram posts of you passed out in the bathroom, no alarming credit card bill of how much you actually spent in the club. Just a great night of drunk-watching your fave show on Netflix.

Next, you get to do whatever the hell you feel like doing. Most times, groups of friends will argue over what they want to do or where they want to go, and usually this wastes so much time and effort. You get to chill out, eat pizza for breakfast, not wear pants ever, and sleep as much as you want! What could be better than that? And if you get lonely, your BFF will totes be down for hanging out with you at home. But make sure they bring some wine.

Lastly, you get to recharge. Breaks are meant for relaxation, and traveling can be anything but that. You've got to plan out your days in advanced when you go on vaycay and can feel like you have to be doing something constantly to get the most out of your trip. But after weeks of intense school work, a week of catching up on sleep or that book you've meant to read can be the best way to use your days off.

So while you're on your couch watching the seventh season of Grey's Anatomy and snackin' on some leftover Chinese take out, scrolling through your news feed seeing all your friend's stellar spring break photos, don't be bummed. You can always take that trip to Los Angeles some other time. If you really want to get out of the house, go take a walk in the park down the street! Go see that new movie with awesome reviews! Whatever it is, you keep doing you and know that you can have a great break without all the fuss.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
