Why do I write?: The Story of Me

I've asked myself this question before, but I never got around to answering it until now.

Every now and then, I start to think about what I'm doing with my life and why I do the things that I do. I ask myself questions about what I plan to do and what I am doing currently.

One of those questions turns out to be why do I write and what do I hope to accomplish by writing?

It's a question that I may not have received myself, but it has come up in a few of my sessions of deep thinking and self-reflection. This question needs more than just a quick and top of the mind answer and, for me at least, cannot be answered by a simple word or one line of text. In order to tell you about how I became a writer, journalist or whatever you want to call me, I must begin with where it all started.

Imagine, young me, a middle schooler with big eyes and even bigger dreams. I started to write to delve deeper into my feelings for certain things, things that were happening to me and what bothered me about them, and I even dabbled in fiction writing. Looking back at my old writings now I realize that it was an admirable start, even though what I wrote wasn't all that good.

However, with the encouragement of my friends, some who I'm still friends with and some that I'm not, I set out on a lifelong adventure of thinking of new characters, creating new scenarios and thinking of what would be the most interesting way to dive head first into the world of writing.

Fast forward to 2018, I still have the same ambition to write good stories and delve into my feelings, but I've also found that some of my reasons for writing have changed.

A good example of that is a way to cope with what is going on around me. I've found that if I've had a particularly hard day, week or month, I would write something encouraging or write about a subject that I enjoy. I would also just share what I'm feeling with the rest of the world through my what I write.

These sorts of articles also come with me trying to cheer everyone else up as well. The more encouraging articles I write about brighter times or keeping your head up during tough times are ways that I want to help others cope as well as help me cope.

One of the reasons for writing I've found since I've started posting articles online is a need to make others happy and teach them something that they might not have known before. I love making others happy and helping them out whenever I can and that is reflected in a few of my articles. Some of the articles are for the sole purpose of making certain people happy and that is if they ever read it, of course.

I want to reach people with my articles and be that little bit of an escape from their day to day lives even if it is just for a minute or two.

Writing is something that I do because I want to make a difference in the world and I just love to write for myself and others. Whether it be fiction or real life news, I'll always be happy to write it!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
